A Muslim country (ISLAM), general things to keep in mind
Egypt is an Islamic country, so do not dress too revealingly. Carefully follow warnings and instructions when visiting the pyramids and other historic monuments and tombs. Be careful when dealing with locals selling by hand, and take care not to be scammed into high-value purchases. Be cautious and do not give in to pushy selling. Follow the guide-interpreter's instructions and take care not to wander off from the group on your own.
Medical services
If you need special medical services or have to go to a hospital, do not forget to get a document certified by the doctor, and do not hesitate to ask for the information needed to get medicine or treatment! In emergencies, services are available for an additional fee.
General information
The official language of Egypt is Arabic, and English is widely used. The Egyptian currency is called the Egyptian pound (EGP), and 1 dollar equals 30 pounds. You can exchange money at banks and currency exchange offices, and pay by card or cash at shops and service venues.
At shops and service venues
When visiting large official shopping venues, keep an eye on your documents and bag with cash, take care not to leave them behind where you shopped, and beware of theft. When using small street services and stalls, communicate through the interpreter and beware of cases such as foreign travelers being scammed with high prices or not being given change.
When shopping at stores and wholesale centers included in the tour program, we recommend that you feel free to make an offer and negotiate the price you are willing to pay.
